Perspectives on Global Health Spotlight Awards
Are you passionate about the future of global health? Do you have fresh perspectives, untold stories, or innovative and creative ideas about Climate Change or Indigenous Health?
The Perspectives on Global Health Blog at McGill University is excited to launch the Global Health Spotlight Challenge! This year, we’re shining a light on two pressing and thought-provoking themes: Climate Change and Indigenous Health. Whether you’re a writer, researcher, advocate, or creative thinker, this is your opportunity to share your insights, spark meaningful conversations, and inspire change on a global scale.
We’re looking for bold, original submissions—opinion pieces, photo essays, interview write-ups, or other creative formats—that push boundaries, spark dialogue, and elevate diverse voices. Your story could be the one to make an impact!
Competition Themes:
Climate Change – Its impacts on health systems, marginalized populations, or actionable solutions for a sustainable future.
Indigenous Health – Insights on health equity, traditional knowledge systems, or community-driven approaches to improving outcomes.
Key Details:
Deadline for Submissions: March 16, 2025
Eligibility: Open to all McGill students.
Prize: The winner for each theme will receive $200 and have their piece featured on the Blog, with wide promotion across our international community.
Submission Guidelines:
Format: Opinion pieces, photo essays, interview write-ups, or other creative formats.
Word limit: 500 – 1200 words
Style: Accessible, engaging, and thought-provoking.
Format: Submit as a Word document to globalhealthblog@mcgill.ca with subject line: Perspectives on Global Health Spring 2025 Competition. Please include in your email your full name, a short personal bio, and the theme you have decided to write on (i.e., Climate Change or Indigenous Health).
Evaluation Criteria:
Submissions will be reviewed based on the following:
Relevance – How well does the piece address one of the two themes?
Clarity and Impact – Is the piece clear, compelling, and thought-provoking?
Originality – Does the submission bring a unique perspective, innovative ideas, or highlight underrepresented voices?
Evidence and Depth – Are claims or ideas supported with relevant examples, data, or citations (if applicable)?
Engagement – Does the submission inspire reflection, connection, or action among readers?
